Neuschwanstein Castle is located in Neuschwansteinstraße 20, 87645 Schwangau, Germany.
Neuschwanstein Castle can only be reached by walking there using the street or the hiking trail, or by taking the bus departing from Hohenschwangau included in the ticket. You can get back to the city on foot or by bus, or with the horse-drawn carriage included in the ticket, when operational.
There is a cafeteria inside the castle, just remember that it only accepts cash as payment. There is also a restaurant a bit down the road, close to the castle, otherwise there is a wide range of places to eat and drink in town.
Neuschwanstein Castle offers accessible bathrooms and an elevator to visitors. There is also a café inside, but there are no lockers, so remember to not bring large items to your visit.
Neuschwanstein Castle is set in the heart of Bavaria, surrounded by plenty of nearby attractions worth exploring.
Just a short walk away, you’ll find Hohenschwangau Castle, the childhood home of King Ludwig II, and the Museum of Bavarian Kings, where you can dive into the fascinating history of the royal family.
Want more scenic views? Take a stroll around Alpsee Lake or hike up to Marienbrücke bridge for the best panoramic shots of Neuschwanstein.
If you’d like to explore beyond the castles, the charming town of Füssen is only a few minutes away, with its medieval old town and Baroque churches.
For nature lovers, the nearby Tegelberg mountain is perfect for hiking or even a cable car ride with breathtaking alpine views!
You can find last minute tickets for Neuschwanstein Castle online from reputable third-party vendors.
If you want to try your luck in person, there might be tickets available at the Ticket Center in Hohenschwangau. They are sold exclusively for the same day and cannot be reserved in advance. Arriving early increases the chances of getting one, especially during peak travel seasons.
Ticket prices for last-minute purchases are the same as standard admission rates. Adults pay a set fee, while children under 18 usually enter free when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Reduced prices may apply for students, seniors, or groups depending on current policies.
If tickets are sold out, travelers can still enjoy outdoor viewpoints around the castle. Booking a guided tour package through third-party providers may also include secured admission. Another option is to explore nearby attractions such as Hohenschwangau Castle or Alpsee Lake.
Yes, either online or at the official ticket center and subject to availability. Same-day tickets often sell out quickly, so early arrival is recommended.
Skip-the-line tickets allow visitors to bypass long queues at the entrance. This is especially useful during summer when wait times can exceed several hours. They also ensure a reserved time slot, making it easier to plan the rest of the day.
Access inside the castle is only possible with a guided tour ticket. However, the grounds, exterior, and walking trails around the castle remain open to the public without a ticket. This allows visitors to enjoy the scenery even if tours are fully booked.
